I have a Dell Dimension raiid has failed. A drive has failed great! Try getting a refurbished unit online; it’s much cheaper than sending the drive to recovery service. As it’s RAID 0, the data will be striped across the 2 drives.

If it is a hardware RAID controller you will need to move it from the old computer and plug in in the new computer. Windows7 sees the drive as one partition but doesn’t see volume information. I have tried to run a chkdsk on it, but it just won’t run.
Plug the faulty drive into another PC not RAIDedboot up SpinRite, select option 4 to repair, leave it until complete, then re-connect to the array and cross fingers! Other than faster performance I can’t see why they have done this on a desktop machine??? Any pointers would be amazing.

If you lose one drive, you lose all your data off both drives. Results 1 to 5 of 5. If it is software raid you are lucky. If one of the drives has failed completely then half the data went with it, what dimensiin left on the other drive would be meaningless.

Unfortunately, the only sure way or even the cheapest way to recover is to install the two disks rais anther or XPS to read them off.
